Jason C. LaRosa ’04 recently won two Emmy Awards for his work at the Pittsburgh television station WPXI.
LaRosa, a technical director at WPXI, won the Emmys on September 9, 2017, at the annual awards ceremony of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
He won for best director for the best evening news—larger markets at 5 p.m. and a second Emmy as the director for best team coverage for the piece “Pittsburgh Water Emergency”. These two wins are the first for LaRosa, however, he was also nominated in 2016 in one category as the director of the story “A Tragedy in Wilkinsburg.”
LaRosa earned a degree in English communications from Lincoln in 2004.
“I like movies and thought that would be a good first step to getting involved with the film industry.”
While at Lincoln, LaRosa worked as LU-TV’s general manager. He became a production assistant at WPXI TV in 2006 where he operated robotic cameras and was a floor director for daily newscasts.
“Directing became something I really enjoy, and the Emmys are the first two career related awards I have received.”
LaRosa lives in Western Pennsylvania with his wife of eight years, Denise. They have two daughters, Gianna, 5, and Natalie, 3.
